References and Marbleizing

The Galleria Antelami in Parma has brought us “the painting of Claudio Martinesi, artist from La Spezia and scholar of oriental philosophy”. The colour is violent, the combinations unusual, the dimensions split, exceeded, violated by the painter for a profound need to seek, through cuts, lacerations, the TRUTH. The reasons, then, for his very existence.Canvases painted, it seems, by an artist with non-European tastes and culture; canvases always arranged geometrically where you can find emotions — frozen — to hint at a true or presumed meaning  Romano Peli  – Art Expert from Radio and TV Parma.

A kind of idealism uncontaminated by the thought forms of our “thinking”. Man, woman: desperately alone on an inhospitable planet, incomprehensibly inhabited only by the forms of them and some predators. A cold primitivism or desolate — left alone —? Are the physical absences “waiting” for life, or “documenting” the life that was? And Martinesi digs, searches, desperately and courageously. His lofty conceptions of life, that life he believes in, can perhaps be understood in this period when he himself wrote: “Go woman, towards your new encounter with love, and try to believe that this is as sincere and pure as you are”.
